OLIVA & CORTES

Oliva Cigar Co. is one of the worlds leading cigar brands based in Nicaragua. They received international fame by maintaining the highest quality of cigars and winning several prestigious awards to back this up. Oliva was acquired by the Belgian Cortes tobacco group in the summer of 2016.

Another challenge, is advertising for a tobacco company. Thanks to VR, Oliva was able to communicate about their brand and values directly with the end user through VR booths in the cigar stores.

 

GOAL

  • Expand awareness of the Oliva brand around the globe.

  • Change the sales process in an enjoyable experience.

  • Acquire a new user segment, the digitals.

Results

  • + 18% in sales revenue.

  • Customers were lining up at the Oliva booth of the tobacco fairs, creating more easy interaction points for the Oliva sales people.

  • Oliva’s sales force now have a physical tool of which they are proud of and enriches their daily customer visits.

  • Customers are perceiving Oliva as a brand that’s investing in the future. This in term makes them more willing to give Oliva a prominent place in their stores.

Approach

  • An interactive experience was created to take customers on a trip to the very essence of the quality cigars: the production process in the field of Nicaragua.

  • A custom VR hub with aromatic senses was build to accommodate customers at tobacco fairs.

  • We partnered with Samsung to provide the Oliva sales force with the VR headsets for whenever they visit new customers.
